Add bacon and remaining ingredients and heat through. Drain and immediately place in ice water. This dish is served hot, and is the best bean salad I've ever had. I make it with black beans, kidney beans, green beans, wax beans, and garbanzo beans.

Instructions to make Hot Green Bean Salad:
  1. If using, soak the cod 24 hours before in Cold water, changing the water 3 to 4 times.
  2. To cook, place the potatoes, beans and eggs in a large saucepan filled with water. Bring to the boil, and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add the cod and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  4. Do test the beans by using a fork to see if they are cooked, if they are still slightly too hard continue to cook them but keep a close eye on the saucepan you don't want to over cook the food.
  5. Drain the water well. Then transfer to individual plates.
  6. On the plate, drizzle the beans and potatoes with vinegar and olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Stir well.
  7. Then sprinkle with the chopped onion and garlic.
  8. Serve along side the cod and eggs and enjoy.

You may not like one or more of the types of beans listed above - just substitute your favorites. This dish is especially good for taking to potluck suppers. Remove one of the beans from the pan to check if it's cooked. If it holds its shape but is also soft to the bite, it's perfect.
