  18. Make ready 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  19. Make ready 1/2 cup grated cheese

And nowadays it is popular all over the India. It is like a sandwich where spicy potato mixture with different chutneys is spreaded between buns. Dabeli is made of Indian Burger buns known as Ladi Pav, a potato filling, and chutneys. There is quite a bit of preparation involved to make authentic and tasty Dabelis.

Instructions to make Dabeli Pie:
  1. For pie crust.. in a big bowl take 2.5 cups all purpose flour. Add salt and sugar and mix well. Chop chilled butter and add immediately. Mix with fingers only. Do not knead. It will yield bread crumbs like texture. Now add 5tbsp chilled water. Mix the flour with fingers. Do not knead. Otherwise your pie won't come out crispy.
  2. Now divide the dough in 2 portions. One large and one small. Larger one will.make pie base and smaller one will be used to decorate the top of the pie. Cover with cling film and put in refrigerator for at least an hour or overnight.
  3. For stuffing. Take 4 boiled and mashed potatoes. Heat oil in pan. Add mashed potatoes. Add Dabeli masala and cook for 4-5 minutes. Mix well. Pie stuffing is ready. Add chopped coriander and keep it aside.
  4. Take out the larger portion of dough. Roll it into a base of 3-4 mm. Place it in a pie mould. Puncture with fork. Make design from the sides according to your choice. Place the pie in fridge for 10-15 minutes. Preheat the oven at 180°c. Bake the pie in preheated oven at 180°c for 25-30 mins.
  5. Take out the baked pie. Apply butter and garlic wali red chutney. Make a layer of Dabeli stuffing. Add sweet tamarind chutney, chopped onions, masala peanuts, pomegranate, Coriander and tutti-frutti.
  6. Add grated cheese.cover the pie with checkered pattern with the smaller portion of dough.
  7. Bake the pie in preheated oven at 180° for 10-15 mins or until crispy.
  8. Serve hot with extra peanuts and chutney.

But, if prepped one day in advance it is an easy recipe to just assemble and munch on! Same day preparation needs a little bit of planning and time. Dabeli or dhabeli or Kachchi Dabeli is one such popular Indian Street food snack. This popular recipe originated in Kutch ( Kachcha ) region of India so it's called Kutchi Dabeli. You find street vendors with big platter of dabeli masala and stacks of garnishes across many street corners of Mumbai, Pune and cities across Maharashtra and Gujarat.
